N.S. gov’t mum on plans for online gaming

The Dexter government won’t say whether it will follow the lead of two other provinces which now allow online gambling.

The Ontario government announced this week it will offer online gaming in 2012, after B.C. launched an online gambling site last month.

Nova Scotia Finance Minister Graham Steele tells the Herald the debate over entering the online gaming world is at the heart of the Provincial Gaming Strategy, which will be completed this fall.

Currently, the Atlantic Lottery Corporation allows online lottery number picks and some interactive games, but no online poker, roulette or blackjack.

Steele says the Lottery Corp. won’t move on internet gaming until the four participating provinces take a position.
