Relief on the way for N.S. flood victims

Help is on the way for hundreds of people in the province who suffered uninsurable damage from recent rain storms in the province. The Dexter government has announced a $5.6 million financial assistance program.
Premier Darrell Dexter tells News 95.7 the $5.6 million should be enough to help everyone who qualifies for the program.
“Based on the investigation that we’ve been able to do over last little while, this is what we believe those losses will be,” Dexter says. “So in short I would say we anticipate we’ll be able to cover all the losses that would qualify.”
The provincial portion of the program is $2.4 million, the rest is supposed to come from the federal government. About 200 millimeters of rain was dumped in some areas of the province between Nov. 4 and Nov. 10. South-western Nova Scotia was hit the hardest.
