Halifax regional council too big: report

A new report says Halifax regional council is too big.

The report was prepared by an Ontario consultant and says the council should be trimmed by three members.

It says a 20-member council could do the job.

The Halifax Regional Municipality is governed by 24 voting members: 23 councilors plus Mayor Peter Kelly.

A review of council’s size is required by the province in advance of the next municipal election 18 months from now.
