One man hurt in Surrey shooting

SURREY (NEWS1130) – A man is recovering in hospital after Metro Vancouver’s latest shooting. It happened late last night in Surrey near 125th Street and 53rd Avenue.

Yellow police tape is up, blocking the area where the 31-year-old man was shot in the back around 11 p.m. as a result of a dispute over stolen liquor.

One newspaper carrier tells us he’s shocked by the crime, which happened just blocks from Colebrook Elementary. “I don’t see people around… I mean, [it is] very, very quiet here.”

With all the shootings as of late, another man can’t say he’s shocked. “I don’t know what to say; everything’s going goofy now.”

Police have suspects, but no one has been arrested.
