White Point suffers second fire

The owners of the historic White Point Beach Resort were faced with their second fire in the main lodge in as many years last night.

Last night’s blaze broke out in the chimney of the main building just before 6 p.m. and moved into the rafters, however crews from the Liverpool and Greenfield Fire Departments were able to contain it to the attic and it was doused within two hours.

Ironically, the chimney was the only thing left standing when the lodge was destroyed by fire in late 2011. It just re-opened this past November.

Resort spokeswoman Donna Hatt says no one was harmed in last night’s blaze.
