JL Ilsley, Astral Drive schools to stay closed Thursday

The Halifax Regional School Board says JL Ilsley High School and Astral Drive Junior High will remain closed on Thursday.
In a release, board spokesman Doug Hadley said more time is needed to ensure existing roof leaks have been repaired and the buildings have been thoroughly cleaned before students return to class.
Hadley said deferred maintenance and old infrastructure is not responsible.
“We’ve got lots of snow and ice that have been building up on roofs causing water to pool,” he said.
Hadley said ceiling tiles needs to be replaced, and water damage needs to be cleaned up.
He says the board will give another update this afternoon.
Beechville-Lakeside-Timberlea Senior Elementary and St. Catherine’s Elementary are scheduled to re-open on Monday.
