Sun then rain for the long weekend in Halifax. Here’s when

The long weekend weather in Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) is starting off sunny and warm but unfortunately goes downhill from there.

According to Environment Canada, Friday is going to be a high of 20 C with a mix of sun and cloud.

Overnight, fog patches could develop and the temperature drops to a low of 8 C.

By Saturday morning things take a turn for the worse.

There’s a 30 per cent chance of showers in the morning, with rain likely to start around noon. About 5 millimetres of rain is expected with 20 km/h wind gathering speed to 50 km/h by the afternoon.

The high should be around 13 C, dropping to 7 C over the day.

The rain is likely to continue on Sunday with a high of 8 C and a low of 6 C. Showers look like they will continue the whole day.

Warmer temperatures return on Monday with an expected high of 17 C. It is not supposed to be raining on Monday and could start clearing up by late afternoon.

The sun won’t return to HRM until Tuesday morning.
