Lower Sackville sees first units of tiny home community installed

By 95.7 News Radio Staff

The first units of Nova Scotia’s very first tiny home community were being installed in Lower Sackville as of Thursday.

A collaboration between the province, the Halifax Regional Municipality as well as the Shaw Group and Dexter Construction, the pilot project hopes to provide housing for around 70 people.

The 60 unit village will see more homes arrive in the coming weeks and the province said residents can expect to start moving in this October.

The province provided $9.4 million last fall for construction costs and has committed $935,000 for annual operating costs.

Wraparound supports will be provided on-site to help residents connect to employment and more permanent housing.
