A Nova Scotia RCMP officer is facing yet another sexual assault charge.
According to the provincial police watchdog, it laid that charge against Cst. William McNutt, after an allegation was made against the officer earlier this year.
McNutt has been suspended without pay since January 2024 after being charged last year with multiple counts of sexual assault, and now another charge was laid against the accused last month.
The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) says the most recent charge was laid on June 30, and the officer is expected to appear in court on Thursday on this new charge.
Following last month’s charge, the RCMP’s commanding officer in Nova Scotia Dennis Daley called the charges “alarming and distressing.”
As a result of three incidents in 2023, McNutt faces three counts of sexual assault against him, as well as uttering threats and overcoming resistance to commit an offence.
McNutt was later charged with two additional sexual offences stemming from an alleged sexual assault in the summer of 2019.
