Emera Oval to close for winter season next weekend

If you like ice skating at the Emera Oval, you might want to hurry and get one more in before Sunday.

That’s because HRM said the popular outdoor ice skating site is set to close for the winter season on March 15.

But the municipality said if ice conditions deteriorate due to warmer weather, the oval may close before it’s final day.

Environment Canada is forecasting temperatures could reach up to 15 C by early next week.

The city said skaters are reminded to check the schedule before heading out, as skate times may be delayed or cancelled.

Meantime, the municipality said the Oval will reopen again this summer for rollerblading, biking, skateboarding and more.
