Dartmouth-born man successfully climbs Mount Everest

A Dartmouth-born man has achieved his dream of climbing the tallest mountain on every continent.
Mike Mulrooney has spend the last two years putting together the funding and planning for this expedition, but he started down the path to Mount Everest in 2014.
The 42-year-old confirmed to NEWS 95.7 he managed to safely summit the world's tallest mountain early Thursday morning.
“Namgya and I did summit at around 7:05 a.m. yesterday morning (the 16th) Nepal time and spent about 30 minutes on the top of the world,” he said in a Facebook message.
“Being early to the top has its benefits as we were able to leave the crowds and quickly arm-rappel down the lines to camp four safely.”
Mulrooney said he made it down safely to Everest base camp without so much as blister.
He's now part of an exclusive list of people to summit the highest peak on each continent.
As for what's next, Mulrooney said he might climb another nearby mountain before heading home to Mexico City.
“I do have an opportunity to go up again and take Lhotse now that I got Everest early, don't tell my mom though.”
