It sounds like we could be in for a messy night of weather later this week.
A special weather statement issued Tuesday said a system will bring rain to much of the province starting Thursday, and it’s expected that wet weather will transition to freezing rain Thursday night.
Environment Canada said as of now, 10 to 30 mm of freezing rain is expected with the highest amounts in eastern Nova Scotia. That area could be in for a “prolonged” period of freezing rain, it said.
The system is also forecast to bring up to 20 cm of snow and ice pellets to northern parts of the province. The heaviest rain is expected on the South Shore, with up to 50 mm forecast.
Nova Scotians are being asked to monitor the forecast over the next couple of days.
