Nova Scotians can now book and pay for drivers tests online

A new online system that launched allows people to cancel, schedule or make changes to a road test in the province.

Previously, people could only book tests by calling Access Nova Scotia during regular hours, with any further changes needing another call. The new online service allows for all bookings to be done on one portal. Tests can only be scheduled for Class 5 licences, more types will be expanded in the future, the press release reads.

“Nova Scotians expect government services to be available online,” said Jill Balser, Minister of Cyber Security and Digital Solutions and Minister of Service Nova Scotia. “Preparing for a driver’s test can be stressful enough. Allowing people to book online puts them in control and makes the whole process faster, simpler and stress-free.”

This is one of the changes the government is undertaking to streamline services for Nova Scotians. Users can still have reminders before appointments.

The province first launched a pilot of the system in Lower Sackville in June and since expanded to other areas. More than 11,000 users have visited the site and booked a total of 4,638 road tests.

“The new booking service is so easy to use. Being able to view all available road tests in one place, any time of the day, makes scheduling for our student drivers a breeze. This is a huge support for us as a business and is especially convenient for individual drivers who are managing their own appointments,” Kaylee Marshall, owner and instructor, 360 Defensive Driving School, said.
