Resident feedback helps squash roundabout plan

There will be no roundabout in the north end.

Councillor Jerry Blumenthal presented a motion to regional council last night that would abandon a proposed roundabout at the intersection of Duffus, Devonshire and Novalea.

Blumenthal said local residents are concerned about pedestrian safety and they’re overwhelmingly opposed to the plan.

Some councillors suggested another staff report might help dispel some misinformation and get the residents on board.

Others said the residents shouldn’t have the roundabout forced on them if they don’t want it – and they should have been consulted much earlier in the process.

Blumenthal’s motion passed, meaning the $1 million project will not proceed.
