Cole Harbour crash repairs expected to take days

Drivers travelling through Cole Harbour will have to take care at one major intersection for the next few days because of damage caused by a serious weekend crash.

Around 10:45 p.m. Saturday, an Infiniti G37was headed down Cole Harbour Road towards Lawrencetown when it hit the light pole at the corner of Cumberland Drive.

The light pole was completely sheared off and landed on the other side of the intersection.

The car carried on through the intersection, off the road, over the sidewalk and into a brick half-wall that carries the RBC bank logo.

Police say flying debris from the wall smashed one of the bank’s windows.

The 23-year-old driver of the car was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Investigators say blood samples are being analyzed to determine whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.

Replacing the light standard will take several days, so drivers are asked to use caution at the intersection of Cole Harbour Road and Cumberland Drive.
