Satisfaction with Stephen McNeil's Liberals has seen a slight increase.
In the latest quarterly poll by Narrative Research, 48 per cent of Nova Scotians are satisfied with the overall performance of the provincial government. That's up three points since November, and 13 points since May.
“This matches the highest level of satisfaction recorded for the McNeil Liberals since the last election, suggesting that the government’s decision to close Northern Pulp did not adversely impact satisfaction,” said the polling company's CEO Margaret Brigley in a news release.
Forty-six per cent of those polled say they're dissatisfied.
If an election were held today, 43 per cent of decided voters say they'd cast a ballot for the Liberals, compared to 27 per cent for the Progressive Conservatives. Both parties are up one point since November. Voter support for the NDP remains at 21 per cent and the Green Party is up one point to 10 per cent.
McNeil is also top of the pack when it comes to leader preference.
Thirty-one per cent support the premier, while 17 per cent prefer PC leader Tim Houston, the NDP's Gary Burrill stands at 15 per cent, Thomas Trappenberg of the Green Party is at 9 per cent and the Atlantica Party's Thomas Bethell rests at 1 per cent.
The results are based on a sample of 800 adult Nova Scotians through a telephone survey conducted from February 5 to 24, 2020, with overall results accurate to within ± 3.5 percentage points, 95 out of 100 times.
