The RCMP has arrested four people in connection to reports of gunshots fired in rural Halifax Regional Municipality.
Police say officers were called on Saturday evening to reports of multiple shots fired near the 8800 block of Highway 224 in Upper Musquodoboit.
The responding officers saw two vehicles leaving the home where the incident happened and arrested two drivers and two passengers.
“The information and evidence gathered indicates that multiple firearms were shot outside the residence,” police said in a release. “It was determined that the shots were not targeted towards people.”
A search warrant executed the following day turned up ammunition, casings and nine firearms, the RCMP says.
Benjamin Henry Oakley, 29, is facing several charges and was being held in custody for a court appearance Monday.
Three others were released on conditions and will be in court on firearm-related charges at a later date.
The Mounties also say an officer lost two carbine magazines during the “dynamic response” to the shots fired report.
“They were later recovered, one of which crushed on the roadway; ten 5.56 mm rounds are currently unaccounted for,” police said.
