Two killed in Highway 101 crash near Mount Uniacke

By Meghan Groff

Two people have been killed in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 101 near Mount Uniacke.

Emergency crews were called to the scene just after 8 p.m. Sunday.

RCMP believe the eastbound vehicle went off the road and crossed over the median, then the westbound lanes, before landing in a ditch.

A 20-year-old Dartmouth man had been behind the wheel and a 23-year-old Sydney woman was a passenger. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The highway was closed for around six hours while a collision reconstructionist investigated. It has since reopened.
