Operation Red Nose breaks records in 2009

It’s was a year of more, more, more, for the organizers of Operation Red Nose.

The free, volunteer-based, drive-home campaign has ended after another year.

Regional coordinator Corinne MacLellan says more people are making a plan, for getting home safely after a night of drinking.

“We’re past the point of public perception and awareness, people basically understand the campaign works,” said MacLellan. “What we’re finding now is people are planning ahead.”

MacLellan says volunteers broke the 500 mark for total rides completed. She says it happened because there were more volunteers – which meant more teams, more vehicles used, more passengers, and more money raised.

A total of $8870 was raised, which will be matched by the Insurance Bureau of Canada, and donated to the SafeGrad program.
