Cushy pensions await former MLAs

Two Nova Scotia MLAs who have quit politics will get some nice pensions for the rest of their lives – courtesy of taxpayers.
Tory Richard Hurlburt’s actual pension will be $54,000, not $41,000 as reported in February.
As for Liberal Dave Wilson, who resigned abruptly last Friday, it will be $41,000 annually.
The Herald reports the figures are higher than those on the province’s website for MLA pensions, which was last updated in 2008.
Pensions for Nova Scotia politicians are said to be among the most lucrative in the country. The pensions kick in when the MLA turns 55.
