Debate over junior high principal rages on

The phone lines were busy as callers to News 95.7’s morning talk show weighed in on the controversy surrounding the former principal of Graham Creighton Junior High School.
“If that was my kid that was pushed by principal Fells I would have personally called him up and thanked him,” said Ben on News 95.7’s Maritime Morning with Andrew Krystal.
Ken Fells, the former principal at the school, lost his position and almost lost his job with the Board after an incident between him and a student. The school board decided in favour of Fells keeping his job, however he was not allowed to remain at Graham Creighton. Video of the much talked about incident was leaked by Frank Magazine Friday.
Most callers Tuesday saw the video and they called in to support Fells.
“I support Ken Fells 100 per cent and I think he should be reinstated in his position,” said Gil.
School board officials say they are looking for the source of the leaked surveillance footage. School Board chair Irvine Carvery says it’s an invasion of the students’ privacy.
A lot of people wanted to know why the student involved wasn’t punished.
“That student should have been disciplined,” says school board member Cheryl Blumenthal-Harrison. “That student charged at the principal.”
The student transferred out of the school and Carvery says the student will not be punished.
Blumenthal-Harrison says the parents should be held accountable. Something caller Steve agreed with.
“It’s a lack of respect,” says Steve. “It’s not coming from the school it’s coming from the parents that are too lazy to raise their kids correctly.”
Blumenthal-Harrison says Fells should be reinstated at that school, however board officials say that won’t happen anytime soon.
