A year after getting the job, the city’s auditor general says he’s “knee deep” in his 2010-11 work plan to review city spending.
Larry Munroe says his office is giving HRM’s procurement policy a close look, though he won’t go into details.
Munroe tells the Herald his office have been getting lots of phone calls from residents and business operators.
Those calls drew attention to the city’s process for obtaining goods and services.
He says some files have been opened and that’s exposed an “emerging issue” that he wants to learn more about.
Munroe is also looking into overtime, and whether taxpayers are getting the best value for money.
He says more details will be included in an upcoming public report.
