Water workers in Halifax have tentative deal

A Halifax labour dispute that was heading toward a strike has been tentatively settled.

CUPE Local 227 says it has reached a tentative agreement with the Halifax Regional Water Commission (HRWC).

“No details will be released until the details have been presented to union members at a ratification vote,” said CUPE National Representative Marianne Welsh says. “The Bargaining Committee is recommending acceptance of the new deal.”

Welsh says the date of that meeting should be determined within the next few days.
