Teens facing weapons charges to undergo assessments

HALIFAX – A pair of teens facing a number of weapons related charges appeared in Halifax Provincial Court Friday after being held in remand for an incident near Millwood High on Tuesday which led to a school lock down.
Crown prosecutor John Nisbet and defence attorney Kai Glasgow came to a joint agreement to have the teenage boys, aged 15 and 17-years-old, undergo a psychiatric and psychological assessment.
The pair was remanded in custody until their next court appearance May 4.
Neither Nisbet or Glasgow provided any comment after their court appearance.
The charges come after police seized a bag of containing guns, two long guns and two BB-style guns, and ammunition in a wooded-area near Millwood High on Tuesday.
Each face a number of charges, including four counts possession of a dangerous weapon, four counts of carrying a concealed weapon and two counts of possession of a firearm for the purpose of trafficking.
Both are also charged with unsafe storage of a firearm, two counts of possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and two counts of possession of a weapon obtained by crime.
